Doing WELL at our Downtown Office

Our downtown office at 28 Liberty Street has been awarded WELL Certification at the Silver level by the International WELL Building Institute, the premier building standard to focus on people’s health and well-being through the built environment.

Think of WELL as a nutrition label for your office, providing transparency on the quality of your built environment. It’s a performance-based system and the certification required mindfulness from the space’s conception to its day-to-day operations. Our offices earned the Silver distinction based on the seven categories of WELL: Air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind, and the JLL team led by Dana Robbins Schneider was extremely mindful of each element when designing the office on the 30th floor of 28 Liberty.

“JLL’s new offices in Lower Manhattan demonstrate the firm’s strong commitment to supporting human health, well-being and comfort in commercial buildings,” said Robbins Schneider, managing director and head of JLL’s Energy and Sustainability Projects group in the northeast. “There is no better way to understand the impact of incorporating human health advocacy into everyday real estate decisions than to do it ourselves for our own staff.”

From adjustable sitting and standing position desks to vast, bright views of Manhattan through windows spanning the skyline, the 28 Liberty office provides an environment for employees to happily and healthily perform their jobs in a comfortable and productive environment. Lighting in the office incorporates Circadian lighting design to synchronize with its employees’ internal sleep/wake cycle. Wellness, health and activity programs and incentives, coupled with healthy snacks and nutritional messaging provide nourishment for employees and contribute to their overall comfort and health.

“We are working with a number of clients to implement the WELL Building Standard and wellness initiatives in their spaces,” says Dana Robbins Schneider. JLL has also held a number of educational sessions on the WELL Building Standard with several large corporate clients, showing our commitment to sustainable building practices and overall employee health.
